What are the beliefs and values which guide Sunnybrook School?
At Sunnybrook School we believe in the dignity and integrity of children, teachers and parents, both as individuals and members of the school community. In an atmosphere of affection and mutual respect each child is encouraged to learn and achieve his/her full potential. Our students will become citizens of the global community with far reaching rights and responsibilities.
Sunnybrook School is an International Baccalaureate World School and is committed to the IB Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). Academic and personal growth are the long-term goals for the student at Sunnybrook School. The IB Learner Profile Profile provides the framework for this growth and development. We believe that students who take responsibility for their own learning, their actions, and the well being of others will become successful and responsible citizens, both locally and globally. We create a learning environment where students learn to develop these responsibilities. A constructivist approach and active inquiry are the most effective ways for students to take responsibility for their learning.
Sunnybrook School has developed a superior curriculum, taught using the most effective teaching practice based on a deep understanding of how children learn. In addition, close communication between home and school, small class size (a maximum of 20 children), and a dedicated, talented teaching staff are fundamental elements of a good school. Our international curriculum gives our students the knowledge, skills and attitudes they will need in our increasingly interdependent, complex world. Our teachers are knowledgeable, enthusiastic, caring and aware of individual student's needs. Sunnybrook School's strengths are built on the belief that academic accomplishment, a strong sense of self, and a willingness to accept challenge are essential to the success of students.
This philosophy underlies everything we do at Sunnybrook while providing 'educational care' for our students. As an IB World School, we are always aware of our commitment to the students entrusted to us.
