Sunnybrook School'S Proud History: Educating children since 1952
Sunnybrook School was founded in 1952 by Mrs. Irmingard Hoff, as one of North Toronto's first Preschools. It was originally located in St. Augustine's Church in Leaside. In 1960 the school moved to its present Merton St. location where it moved into its own purpose built premises.
Over the next 4 years, the school grew to include grades one through four. In 1985 Mrs. Hoff's daughter, Irene Davy, Ph.D., became the director of the school. That same year a neighbouring property was purchased and an addition was built, improving the facilities by adding a gym and larger classrooms, as well as new offices. Preschool classes were phased out in the 1980’s to make way for grades 5 and 6. Three further renovations followed and Sunnybrook is now a full elementary school offering JK to grade 6, with one class per grade.
In April 1999, Sunnybrook School adopted the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. The beliefs and values of our school are enhanced and complemented by this excellent framework for an international curriculum.

Sunnybrook is Growing Again
Sunnybrook School is in a growth phase once again, with a planned addition, which will provide 4 new classrooms, an art/drama studio, a French room, and an improved music room.
