JK Five Senses Festival

At the end of the Unit of Inquiry exploring the Five Senses the JK class holds a Festival, to share their learning with their parents. Our JK students move from station to station with their parents to share their knowledge and explore the five senses with their family. Smelling, seeing, touching, hearing and tasting are explored thorought the unit. The best part is the big 5 Senses Festival day when families participate with their children.

Each student makes a Five Senses hat to wear on the day of the festival; the hat demonstrates the five ways that we perceive our world.

The Annual SBS Terry Fox Run

Sunnybrook School gives back to the community with participation in the Terry Fox Run; students learn about contribution Terry Fox made to Canada and the courage he showed in his run across Canada.

In spite of the rainy weather, parents, teachers and students ran for an hour before returning to school. Our youngest students in JK and SK ran along Merton Street; we are very proud of their enthusiasm. It's a great event for the school and a powerful experience for our students. Over the years SBS has raised over $60,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
