Field Trips/Enrichment

Our community offers many rich and wonderful opportunities to extend learning beyond the classroom. Bringing learning outside the walls of the school allows for wondrous, memorable, real life experiences in so many areas of study. Field trips complement and extend classroom learning at all age levels.

Our teachers are very creative in finding locations for effective enrichment of their units of inquiry. Field trip venues around the GTA include:

  • ROM
  • Ontario Science Centre
  • Pioneer Village
  • Crawford Lake Conservation Area
  • AGO
  • McMichael Gallery
  • Japanese Cultural Centre
  • High Park
  • Sunnybrook Park
  • Toronto Brickworks
  • Kortright Centre
  • Trent University Science Camp
  • Camp Kandalore
  • A mosque, a church, a temple and a synagogue
  • Queens Park
  • The Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People

In order to ensure safety, the children travel in busses and parents are invited to join the trip, providing optimal adult-student ratios. These field trips also provide opportunities for parents to contribute to the class experience.

An exciting part of grade 5 and 6 is a 3-day overnight experience at Camp Kandalore.  Our grade 6 class takes a graduating trip to Science Camp at Trent University.

Classroom Enrichment

Bringing specialists, such as authors, artists, musicians into the school enhances student learning in memorable ways. Parents who share an area of expertise with students contribute to the depth of the learning experience and provide role models for young learners.
